  • Keen to travel to various places of cultural and historical significance in Ghana?
  • Looking for international development experience?
  • Free for 2 weeks this September?

The AfricaGives programme of the African Foundation for Development (AFFORD) has created an exciting opportunity for young Africans in the diaspora to  experience a unique perspective into their country/continent of origin.  The purpose of this mission is to create a two-way relationship between Ghana and young Africans in the diaspora by providing opportunities for delegates to directly contribute their time and skills  towards the development of Ghana in partnership with young Ghanaians.

Participants will be involved in various activities with local government, youth and community representatives including:

    • Exchange of ideas and networking with local youth groups
    • Cultural activities
    • Speaking tours at various governmental and non-governmental institutions
  • Liaison with high profile dignitaries and local media

The total cost of this 2 week mission is $2500/£1475.

– Flights

– All local travel, accommodation, and meals

– visa processing

– Local support

Not included:

– Travel insurance

You must be willing to engage with youth, open to working in partnership with different cultures and participate in media opportunities in Ghana, and on your return.

Delegates are expected to run various post delegation activities individually or collectively, write blogs and speak to interested groups about their experience upon their return. In addition, delegates are expected to collaborate with programme alumni, organisers as well as local and national community organisations to continue strengthening ties between Africa and its diaspora.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain access to high profile organisations, development actors and grassroots initiatives through a structured programme of activities, in a safe environment.

If you are interested in participating in this mission, you will be required to provide a deposit of  $500/ £295 to secure your place by July 21st 2014. Full payment will need to be secured 3 weeks in advance of the mission.
